Methods to Generate Structurally Hierarchical Architectures in Nanoporous Coinage Metals

The fundamental essence of material design towards creating functional materials lies in bringing together the competing aspects a large specific surface area and rapid transport pathways. generation structural hierarchy on distinct well-defined length scales has successfully solved many problems porous materials. Important applications these hierarchical fields catalysis electrochemistry are briefly discussed. This review summarizes recent advances strategies to create bicontinuous morphology metals, focusing mainly architectures nanoporous gold. Starting from traditional dealloying method subsequently moving other non-traditional top-down bottom-up manufacturing processes including templating, 3D printing, electrodeposition, this will thoroughly examine chemistry gold coinage metals. Finally, we conclude with discussion about future opportunities for advancement methodologies bimodal structures enhanced sensitivity.
